Training for Government Agencies & More

The Institute also has the capacity to provide training and education to county, state and federal agencies that are seeking a better understanding about the unique status of tribes and tribal governments and a better relationship with tribal governments. Over 30 trainings have been conducted.

The trainings are designed to meet the specific needs of the agency and typically include an overview of federal Indian law and policy; tribal treaty and sovereignty rights; tribal government duties and responsibilities; inter-government relations; and analysis of effective strategies for improving relationships with tribes. Additional topics can be added, based upon the needs identified by the participating agencies. Continuing Legal Education credit (CLE) from State Bar associations are available.
