 Mike
Williams is a Yupiaq Eskimo born and raised in Akiak,
Alaska. He presently serves as Chairman of the Alaska
Inter-Tribal Council and Vice-Chair of
the Alaska State Board of Education. He is on the
Board of the Alaska Humanities Forum, and the Native
American Rights Fund. A mental health counselor,
he is passionate about two things: Iditarod Dog
Sled Racing, and the cause of sobriety. He combines
his interests in mushing for sobriety, educational
opportunities and healthy lifestyles. He has received
the Honor for Sobriety Advocacy Award from the Alaska
State Legislature, and numerous other awards from
citizen groups.
