Tribal Comments

At the conclusion of each training for individual tribal councils, the participants are asked to complete an evaluation form. The following or samples of the comments from these evalulations.

Quinault Nation "This is the second training that I have taken from your organization and it was nice that it wasn't a repeat. It was indeed a refreshing session."
Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee "Thank you for helping reinforce my backbone and legs to stand tall, walk and speak with the strengths and sight of a chief."
Nevada Tribes and State Department of Environmental Protection "Good overall information on understanding legal relationship between federal government, nations and states."
Delaware Nation of Oklahoma "I would require every Indian tribal leader in the US to have this course, if I had the power to do so."
Navajo Nation 2003 "The orientation was good. Many positive techniques/pointers were shared which will be applied in coordinating business on Navajo land to grow as a Nation with a unique plan."
Tribal Council of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe "I was very impressed with the information given Ð the binder, books and booklets are gold."
Tribal Council of the Quinault Tribe "This was an excellent session for both experienced and non-experienced Tribal Council members. Informative and useful. It enhances our skills, reminds us of what our job entails and how to do an effective job."
Tribal Council of the Summit Lake Paiute Tribe "I wish there was more time to learn more. I have a better understanding on how tribal government is suppose to run and learned things I didn't know about government."
Shoshone-Bannock Fort Hall Business Council "As a newly elected tribal official, I have enjoyed listening to many issues, i.e., social, political, economic, religious, etc. I have gained an historical perspective, which is vital to tribes as an organization."
Tribal Council of the Lummi Nation "This course offered the idea that we can change our future lives if we have a stable leadership that is willing to evaluate and change. Status quo is not good enough."
Tribal Council of the Klamath Tribes "This course was perfect and provided information that our Council was lacking. Being a relatively new Council member, I have a lot to learn and this course provided a good portion of that information."
The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation "The Institute for Tribal Government is very good, especially for tribal officials who are elected to serve their Council and members. Sovereignty of the Indian Nations is in jeopardy and the Indian people need to learn and know all ways to protect the sovereignty of the Tribe."
The Coeur d'Alene Tribe "An excellent institute for learning! I thoroughly enjoyed the instructors, the content, and the entire environment. Thank you very much!! I think every councilman ought to go through this course, especially the 'juniors.'"
Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon "For me, it was very informative and helpful to hear the review of early history. The information on the legal cases that have impacted or strengthened tribal sovereignty was also great to hear."
The Navajo Nation 2001 "This class is needed for all Native American Tribal Councils, especially the coverage of legal authorities and sovereignty between the Navajo Nation, states, counties and federal government."
Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon "Gave a good basis to understand and formulate approaches to some of our tribal problems."
